Reequipment module Kvant-2

DB Salyut designed it on the basis of the transportation supply ship (TSS). Module Kvant-2 was launched from Baikonur on November 26, 1989 by the LV Proton-K. It is divided into three air-tight parts with the total volume 59 m3. The total length of the module is 13.7 m; maximum diameter 4.3 m; mass at the launch 19565 kg. Mass of the useful load of the module is 5000 kg, of the fuel- 1100 kg. The area of the solar batteries is 53.2 m2 (6.9 kW). NiCd batteries of capacitance 360 Ah are set up on the module. It docked to the nose docking port of the core vehicle and by its robot arm redocked to the side port. It has a run of the service systems, which are absent on the core vehicle. It has standard airlock for the cosmonauts' extravehicular activity (at present does not work). The scientific equipment mainly aimed at the remote probing of the Earth.
